Musculoskeletal conditions
Lumbago / low back pain
Did you know that 80% of Norway's population will experience lumbago, or what we in Norwegian call non-specific low back pain, at some point in their lives?
Neck disc prolapse
Did you know that 90% of all cervical prolapses occur in the lowest, or second lowest, neck disc? The neck consists of 7 cervical vertebrae. They are connected by intervertebral discs. Their job is to cushion load and impact in everyday life, and to allow movement of the neck.
Neck pain
Did you know that 30–50% of Norway's population will have experienced neck pain, or complaints related to the neck, in the past year?
Pain between the shoulder blades
Did you know that stiff/locked joints and tight muscles between the shoulder blades can cause chest pain? Pain in the upper back is a common complaint that many people experience one or more times during their lives. The pain can be in the middle of the spine, spread out like a belt between the shoulder blades, or out to one side.
Lumbar disc prolapse and disc bulge
Did you know that many people go around with disc bulges and prolapses without them causing symptoms? The spine consists of vertebrae, and between each vertebra there are cartilage discs. These discs work as shock absorbers during movement.
Migraine
Did you know that almost 20% of Norway's population experience one or more migraine attacks during their lives? Migraine is defined as a neurological disease consisting of severe headache that comes in attacks. Almost 15% of all women and 7% of men are affected by the disease.
Sports injuries
Did you know that sports injuries are not reserved for elite athletes? Sports injuries are in principle quite ordinary injuries, but ones that occur more often during sport. We therefore divide them into acute and load-related injuries.
Crystal sickness (BPPV)
Did you know that crystal sickness is the most common cause of acute dizziness? It is assumed that 1–2% of the population get crystal sickness each year. The condition is most common in older people because the crystals become more porous with ageing.
Tension headache
Did you know that tension headache is the most common type of headache? Tension headache is also known as tension-type headache and stress headache. Most people will experience this type of headache one or more times in their lives, and it is the most common headache without an underlying cause. It is therefore defined as a primary headache. It often comes in episodes and can last for several days.
Elbow and hand
Did you know that mouse arm is not a well-defined diagnosis, but covers most complaints that arise from frequent use of a computer and mouse?
Pelvic joint pain
Did you know that about 20% of pregnant women experience pelvic joint pain? Pelvic joint pain can occur in one or more of the three joints that connect the pelvis, and both women and men of all ages can get it.
Knee pain
Did you know that knee pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints? The knee is a weight-bearing joint, and is the largest joint in the body. The knee is stabilised only by soft structures, that is, ligaments and muscles.
Hip pain and groin pain
Did you know that weight loss has well-documented effects on reducing pain in hip osteoarthritis? Hip and groin pain can be seen in all age groups, but hip osteoarthritis (wear and tear) is more common with increasing age. Genetics play a large part in osteoarthritis of the hip. Otherwise, people in all age groups can experience spontaneous pain in the hip and groin region triggered during sport or activity.
Lower leg, ankle and foot
Did you know that there are 35 joints in the foot alone? Injuries to the lower leg, ankle and foot can occur both acutely and over time. Acute injuries typically occur during activity or sport. Load-related conditions of the lower leg, ankle and foot typically increase over time and are the result of the body's tolerance not having withstood the load it has been exposed to over time.
Neck headache
Did you know that neck headache, or cervicogenic headache as it is properly called, is similar to migraine? Cervicogenic headache is caused by reduced mobility, or faulty function, in the neck, which gives one-sided headache. An attack can last for several days and can come in episodes.
Shoulder pain
Did you know that the shoulder consists of no fewer than four joints? Each of the structures in the shoulder can be subject to inflammation or injury, but it is most often a cumulative load or an injury that is the reason you experience pain in the shoulder.
