About knee pain
In addition to ligaments and muscles, menisci and tendons are the most common cause of knee pain. Cartilage, bursae and joint membranes can also be sources of pain. Knee pain can usually be divided into acute and load-related injuries. With acute injuries you experience sudden pain, which typically occurs with trauma, for example twisting the knee during sport. Load-related knee conditions increase in intensity over time and can, for example, be due to an increased amount of training.

A thorough history and clinical examination are important when you come to us at Behandlerverket so that we can find out which treatment you are most likely to respond best to. Imaging such as diagnostic ultrasound or MRI can be an effective diagnostic supplement if there is uncertainty after the clinical examination. Manual therapists and chiropractors can refer for imaging when needed.
We rarely see a need for surgery for knee injuries. Recent research has shown that guided rehabilitation and exercise have a good effect for most knee conditions and injuries.
The treatment plan you receive from us aims to reduce pain and normalise mobility as quickly as possible, so that you can return to the activities you usually want to do, and preferably a little stronger and more active than before. We assess which treatment you need. After all, our concept is based on easy access to treatment and exercise.
