Mathias is a sociable and active physiotherapist from Sandefjord. He has previously played handball at elite level in both Norway and Denmark, and has also been the medical lead for a handball team in the Danish 1st division. Through this he has developed a particular interest in and experience with sports injuries, rehabilitation and the road back to sport and activity.
Mathias has experience from private practice, hospital and municipal physiotherapy in Denmark, in addition to private practice in Norway. He treats patients of all ages with both acute and long-term musculoskeletal complaints, and has broad experience in assessing and treating complaints in the back, neck, hip and extremities, among other areas.
He places great emphasis on a thorough examination and adapts the treatment to each patient's complaints, goals and needs. The aim is not only to reduce pain, but to restore function, get the patient back to their desired activity and reduce the risk of recurrence.
In treatment, Mathias Haugen uses:
- Manual treatment and mobilisation techniques
- Guided rehabilitation
- Adapted exercise programmes and home exercises
- Shockwave therapy
- Sling treatment
Outside Behandlerverket Mathias still lives an active life, although handball has gradually been replaced by road cycling.
