Espen is a calm and trustworthy man from Ski. After finishing his education he worked for a few years at various physiotherapy clinics, but with a strong drive for development and new challenges, in 2014 he established Impuls Helse in Kolbotn and later in Ski – an initiative that is today part of Behandlerverket.
As a physiotherapist he is keen that you as a patient should feel seen, heard and cared for. He sets aside time to explore your expectations and needs, and plans the course of treatment based on the conversation you have, a thorough examination and who you are as a person.
Espen has an active approach to the profession and wants to pass on knowledge you can use on the road towards fewer complaints and better health. Over the years he has written many blog posts about the practice of our profession and what matters for good health, and he has also written an e-book on long-term back complaints.
His areas of specialisation include shoulder complaints, knee complaints and long-term back complaints. He also has broad experience with athletes and load-related complaints, especially in running and cycling, and has worked closely with people at all levels – from beginners to elite athletes.
In treatment, Espen Holm-Engelstad uses:
- Guided rehabilitation
- Adapting exercise programmes and home exercises
- Soft tissue treatment and joint mobilisation
- Shockwave therapy
- Training planning and load assessment for athletes/recreational exercisers
Outside Behandlerverket, he follows his children to various sports venues, or laces up his running shoes and heads out into the forest or along the tarmac. He is also no stranger to taking part in races a couple of times a year.
