Naprapathy

Naprapaths give manual treatment of muscle and joint complaints, whether acute, chronic, preventive or rehabilitative. The patient's anamnesis (medical history), examinations and tests form the basis of the individual treatment. Great emphasis is placed on analysing and preventing underlying causes.

The treatment aims to restore normal function in the musculoskeletal system. By combining different treatment techniques, treatment by a naprapath can reduce muscle pain and restricted movement.

What does a naprapath do?

A naprapath starts the course of treatment with an anamnesis. This means that the naprapath asks you questions about your medical history. This conversation lays the foundation for further examinations and tests.

This is followed by treatment of both the primary area and the secondary areas. The primary area is where the injury comes from, where it arises in the body. The secondary areas are often where you feel the pain.

Which treatment methods does the naprapath use?

A naprapath uses their hands for both testing and treatment. Examples of such treatment techniques are: manipulation, joint mobilisation, trigger points, massage, stretching and exercise. We also have aids such as shockwave therapy, IMS (needles) and advice on ergonomics. Here at Behandlerverket Ski you will always get exercises to take home, so that you can influence the result of the treatment yourself and at the same time prevent it from happening again.

All members of the NNF are trained at, or studying at, Naprapathögskolan in Stockholm. The naprapathy programme in Stockholm is a four-year full-time programme. In addition, graduated naprapaths complete a one-year internship before applying for authorisation.
